My inspiration for this projection design came from Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit. As a fictional book, Robin the Rabbit, is featured as both a childhood and horror aspect of Absentia, I wanted to make sure to emphasize those moments with a character that so many hold dear. I pulled from Potter’s known illustrations and created more in her style to bring the story of Robin the Rabbit to life for the audience. I added some more twisted imagery of a blood-eyed wolf for darker moments of the story. The idea was that in moments when the character was merely reading the story, it was pleasant imagery on the screen. When it was twisted moments brought on by her own mind, the imagery shifted darker and was filled with jitters and darkness.
