This scarf was created as an exploration into silk dyeing for a class. I started by stretching silk onto a frame and tracing my design in pencil. I then applied gutta resist for the lining. Various dyes were painted onto the wet silk to achieve the glowing tree of life. I added curling gold from the roots as a final touch and steam set the piece.
