Wolf Mask

Classwork - 2019

Materials: Air dry clay for base, worbla, acrylic paint, ribbon

This mask was created as an exploration of worbla usage in costume crafts for a class. It was modeled off of the leather masks created by Merimask. I started by sculpting air dry clay onto a given plaster face to get a starting shape for my mask. Once this was complete, I waited for the clay to dry and shaped thermoplastic onto it, adding on the little ears to the base. When the worbla was to my liking, I detached it and cleaned up the edges. I primed it with flexbond and painted with acrylics. For a final detail, I added on a sheer piece of ribbon as the tie rather than elastic to continue mimicking the mask style.
