Brazed Circlet
Classwork - 2020
Materials: Steel coat hangers, brass sticks, FEV mixture (denatured alcohol, shellac, alcohol-based leather dye)
This circlet was created to explore brazing techniques within my steel class. I took a reference image and patterned out how it would look flat. Using coat hanger wire, I cut pieces of steel and bent them to fit the pattern. Once in place, I joined all of the pieces by brazing brass into the joints. The finished piece was heat treated and bent into shape before being coated with a layer of FEV made from shellac and leather dye.
