Cosplay Horned Helm
Classwork - 2021
Materials: EVA foam, contact adhesive, foam clay, paper mache, hot glue, plasti-dip, acrylic paint
This helm was created to explore creating an armor piece with foam for a class project. I started with a pattern from Kamui Cosplay to cut out the foam pieces, editing the patterns slightly to suit my needs. The foam was put together with contact cement and seams were smoothed using a dremel sander. The horns were shaped using foam clay to create the ridges. The helm was reinforced with paper mache and a swirling pattern was drawn over top and filled with lots of hot glue. The horns, foam rivets, and other detail pieces were applied with contact cement. Everything was primed with plastidip and painted with metallic paints to get a lightly tarnished black metal look.
