Cosplay Bow

Classwork - 2022

Materials: PVC pipe, contact adhesive, EVA foam, foam clay, Worbla finest art, plasti-dip, acrylic paint

This bow from World of Warcraft was created to further explore sculpture with foam and thermoplastic. The base started with a heat-shaped piece of PVC pipe. I then attached some rough shaped pieces of EVA foam with Barge contact adhesive to start the double spine. The skulls and horns were sculpted with EVA foam before being attached, and then adjusted with foam clay. The main spines were also shaped with foam clay. I then coated the entire piece with thermoplastics for stability, and to add more details to flesh out the shape. The spaulders were completed in the same process (foam, foam clay, worbla). A coating of plasti-dip primed the whole thing, and many layers of acrylic paints finished off the whole bow!

Fun fact: This entire bow is over 5’ tall to mimic the size of the bow in game and in relation to the character.
