Fake Leg
Classwork - 2019
Materials: Various Smooth-On silicones, gel wax, latex, fake bones, fake nails, aquarium tubing, Smooth-On ultimate blood, plaster bandages, silicone paint
This leg was part of an independent study that I did. The study was focused on props, specifically those involving casting and molding.
I made this leg by creating a mold of my own left leg with Smooth-On Body Double. I wrapped it in a plaster support shell and did a slush casting with flesh pigmented Smooth-On Dragon Skin to get the skin casing. It took about five sessions to get an even slush cast all around the leg. I then used a chip brush and silicone Psycho Paint to dab on some orange, yellow, purple, and red to get a realistic bruised skin tone as well as a bit of iodine effect around the slice. I added a thin layer of latex on the inside for some fascia effects, stuck in two latex muscled bones, and filled the cavity with red gel candle wax. The wax was added in small amounts and pressed to the sides as I went. I attached the nails with latex and nail glue, and painted on the extra blood using Ultimate Blood. The tubing is pulled through to the bottom for spurting/flowing effects.
