Rocky the Dragon Sculpture
Classwork - 2022
Materials: Green insulation foam, water-based contact adhesive, EVA foam, foam clay, tissue paper, school glue, acrylic paint
This foam sculpture was made to demonstrate foam carving and finishing skills. Rocky is based off of the Reaper Miniatures Scheming Rocky sculpted by Gene Van Horne. I blew up imagery of this less than 2" miniature to be about 18"x18" and transferred a rough sculpt onto green insulation foam. I moved onto additive sculpture using EVA foam for structural pieces and foam clay to finish off the shape. I then covered him entirely in tissue paper for the texture as well as a priming coat. Then a gradient paint treatment was applied with acrylic paint to finish off this little dragon.
