This production called for two major scenic elements that the designer wanted focus on: the raked floor and the marbled columns. We started with the two solid base colors on the floor, applying the two grain colors over top with a wood rocker tool. We followed up with a couple of washes to tone the floor before repeating the process for the edge detailing. The marbled columns used a sponge technique with water sprayed over the top to encourage paint bleed. The balconies needed a little extra wear so I carved out chunks of spray foam before painted and highlighting with gold to match the trim. The capitals were purchased, painted flat gold, and washed over with van dyke for wear.
