Victorian Riding Hat

Classwork - 2019

Materials: Buckram, millinery wire, synthetic thread, rayon velvet, various fabrics for decoration, satin, ribbon

This riding hat was made to explore millinery work within a class. A buckram base was cut and sewn together alongside millinery wire. This was then covered in a rayon velvet and lined with satin using invisible hand stitches. The hat band was created with braided ribbon and fabric and tacked into place. Puff flowers and roses were created from fabric and ribbon and tacked into their places as well.
